Clitoral hood reduction is used to reduce the size of the clitoral hood when it is perceived to be too long or large in size. This cosmetic procedure is also referred to as Clitoropexy, clitoral hoodectomy, clitoral unhooding, and clitoridotomy. It's main purpose is to reduce the size of the clitoral hood and expose more of the clitoris in order to improve sexual stimulation or for the aesthetic look of the vulva.
Some women do not like the size of their clitoral hood because the length causes insecurity or irritation. In some cases, it can create a bulge under the clothing that appears to be a small penis.
This very precise procedure is done as an outpatient and is usually combined with labiaplasty. The clitoris and surrounding nerves ARE NOT touched in this procedure. It is only the extra lateral tissue that is sculpted away.
